Over the last 10 or so games of ability draft, I have seen some super shitty builds. There is always one player on each team who fails to have any kind of solid build - winding up 0/40/0 Exaggerated by the end of the game and not having much fun. What is Ability Draft. Ability Draft is the new mode you unlock at level 5. Here, everyone is assigned a random hero. You will be given some time to look over the abilities and heroes, and then you get to go in turn (5 seconds per ability, which is incredibly short, so if you're not prepared, you will time out and get a random ability) picking which abilities you want for your hero.

Let's talk about ability draft here! Share your stories and thoughts. I'll start us off.
Yesterday I played Weaver with Shukuchi and every NP ability except Sprout. It was ultimate rat dota.
Though I think they should fix toggling triggering other abilities. I played against a Lina with Fiery Soul and Mana Shield, so she always had 3 stacks of Soul up. Imagine if it were aftershock >_>
I had warlock with create treats, teleport, NP ultimate, and leshracs diabolical edict.
They didn't want their towers anyway :P
Batrider with DS Vacuum + Centaur stomp + QoP Blink + his own lasso. OP initiation
Also, giving any melee hero an orb walking skill or giving greater bash to a ranged hero results in instant hilarity.
Timber Chain, Whirling death, firefly, flaming lasso
Shukuchi, headshot, geminate, time lapse
Saw someone take corrosive skin and frost armour and some other defensive skills, pretty much a pain in the ass to kill.
Edit: forgot to mention split shot also applies the fury swipe buff
Shockwave, Lightning Bolt, Arcane Bolt, Laguna Blade on any high INT hero.
Turn Dota into LoL, hope the match never reaches late game.

Quill Spray + Fiery Soul + Fury Swipes + Chemical Rage
He was just wrecking every shit he sees
I took moon glaives.. they didn't work, I was Brew
Yea alot of things kinda screwy, i think they have work around code for some heroes abilities. Natures profit Ultimate for one, doesnt seem to hit unseen creeps or it stops early. Orb effects on mellee can be target cast at ranged, burning arrows going thru magic immune makes it a nice pickup for mellee.
Napalm + Spines + Fiery Soul + Warpath Is a vary nasty combo, had it on a bat, not sure if napalm damage boost works as well for others.
It's kinda dumb, certain abilities are completely op and instant wins for whoever gets them like fury swipes on ranged, especially if stacked with some good skills like flak cannon or sven cleave or clinkz speed boost. Then giving ranged orbs to melee makes them extremely op like huskar arrows and clinkz arrows on any fast melee attacker. It's fun when you get those abilities but game is not balanced at all it's a gimmick that gets old.
I remember back when fountain hooking was around, you could use NP tp, hook, rearm, and x marks the spot. oh good ol legends of dota
Caster with riki ulti is quite fun! Also I liked vacuum / tiny stun combo.
Furions Tp and nature wrath, eidolons, rearm - new lvl of rat doto :D
I got to play Medusa with Mana Shield, Fiery Soul, and Repel last night. I was the One True Carry :3
Also, holy shit Tombstone is AMAZING. You can like, get it and still be a good hero because you're not playing Undying.

Yes. So does toggling Voodoo Restoration.
They also trigger Aftershock and the Zeus passive. It's fucking broke.
Edit: Just played a game where I had Mana Shield and Warpath, and toggling the shield didn't do anything. So, this has potentially been hotfixed?

Had Berserker's Blood, Reactive Armor, Inner Vitality, and Culling Blade on Axe. Rushed a vanguard and heaven's halberd and just bought more and more evasion. Almost impossible to kill.
I was Tiny today, with Great cleave, Flak cannon, craggy exterior and Gods strength
Skywrath Mage: Split shot, Firey Soul, Dragon Slave and Laguna Blade
just press splitshot 3 times and you get the full attack speed and movement speed bonus from aura :)
playing like a medusa but with better laning phase and more kill potential.
Medusa w/ Split Shot, Overload, Press the attack, and some ulti. The split shot toggle with overload was just soooo ridiculous+sometimes overload seem to hit all targets when split shot was on.
Wow..reading all the stuff that's been getting posted, I expect 5 or 6 more patches next week.
played against a QOP with Flak + insatiable hunger.. Every hit healed 400 hp at lvl 6 -
Huskar with Rot, Heartstopper Aura, Frost Sigil, and Permanent Invisibility. Surprisingly effective, once I was level 6. Got a HoT and just walked up to people, and the team could do the rest.

And what will you do if your team doesn't stomp the enemy team so they can afford sentries and dusts?
This is only good either if your team wins the game for you or either if the entire enemy is mentally handicapped for not getting detection.
No offense, it might seem a fun to play strategy, but just think about how 'good' is having a teammate who's complete game play is to go invis and stay out of fights and try to slowly burn the enemy.
Btw i like this mode so much.
Love to see people pick their own skills then fail BIG times. Maybe some might even realize how little they know yet about the game mechanics.
It's totally against the moral of playing as a team since mostly noone checks what the enemy-, nor your own team is picking and what heroes there will be; furthermore its very rare aswell that someone buy wards in the early game or help out with tp.
But it's fun(!), and much more dynamic. (Your item build is more independent.)
some fun combos i had:
centaur + counter helix + return + bloodbath
omniknight + burning spear + flak cannon + great cleave + walrus punch
earthshaker + spin web + aftershock +whirling death
I played Venomancer with Blink Strike, Hoof Stomp, and Smoke Cloud. It was glorious..until I lagged out and abandoned. Thankfully my team was far enough ahead to still win.
5e eladrin dmg. It’s very useful if your campaign spans the Multiverse, but for everyday adventures, especially the kind you generally see at low levels and introductory play, this is too much too soon.
Witch doctor with furions teleport, rockets, laser and Laguna blade. Build dagon. gg

impossible to push !
Let's see.. my faves so far:
Fiery Soul, Split Shot, Quill Spray, DP Ult. That was fun.
Fiery Soul + Split Shot in General is fun.
Fury Swipes on a caster.
Treant with Kraken Shell, Craggy Exterior, Drunken Brawl, and Grow.
Viper with Pounce + Essence Shift. That only worked so long though. Then they started chain stunning.
Any ranged with lycan's ult destroys stuff too.
Stuff I've built, windranger with timelock (void's bash), chrono (void still immune in it as well as me), great cleave and some random nuke I forgot. Like having a better than mkb bash at lvl 1 plus cleave on ranged.
Clinkz with Fury swipes, clinkz speed attack thingy, luna's dmg aura and laguna blade ult. Super fast ranged fury swipes, wrecked everything.
Lion with tiny's avalanche, tide's gush, dk's fire breath and qop's ult. I'd avalanche, fire breath, gush as they try to run, auto attack to kill em. For team fights avalanche, fire breath, ult, mostly dead enemies. Really nice when you get a ranged int hero.
The two most op builds are as folllows:
DP with rupture skewer blink fiery soul and dragon salve
ES with chemical rage/
aftershock/quill spray/Ursa stomp literally 1 v 4 with a vanguard under a tier two tower
Mana Shield (dusa) + Overload (storm)
fingers hurt a bit after match but still worth it.
ever game if someone got ranged hero + tusk ult , it is a big gg
or ranged hero + earthshaker crit skill.
yeah I forgot about the ranged hero with es enchant totem. Gyro got that one vs us once along with flak cannon. GG 800 dmg regular hits to 4 people at a time. Another time sniper got it with mana break. GG 800 dmg hit plus take all my mana in seconds.
and silencer. effecitvely you got 5 skills.
itself get int stealer. it is innate passive skill. you get int steal anyway even if you have 4 totally irrelevant skill.
